Letter to the Past
Dear Dorcas,
How have you been? I have been doing well, currently schooling in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. How’s school for you? Sitting for your O levels this year? Hope you are coping well with your studies.
Remember the days when we were in primary school? We used to see each other every Sunday morning in church. We used to play all sort of old school games, there was nothing we never did together. Remember there was a time we were crazy over MOS Burger? Haha, I remembered how every week we would go to the outlet nearest our church to drink milkshake and corn soup. Remember how we were mad over drinking bubble tea every week? I can still clearly remember how you smashed my first pair of spectacles. It was like WOW. Oh, and the times we sat beside each other at the piano, playing similar tunes together.
I really miss you. I miss everything that we did in the past. We used to be such close friends. Yeah, I can safely say that you were my first best friend, until the day you left. I knew you from the day you were born until the day you left. Now, I don’t know who you are anymore.
We haven’t talked, haven’t meet for almost 4 years. But you are still rooted in my memory so deeply. How can I ever forget such a friend, a sister that I’ve known for 17 years? I know even if we meet now, we probably cannot go back to how used to be. Why did you have to leave 4 years back?
Everything back at church have changed so much since the day you left. Many of our childhood friends have also left after you. I really felt that our friendship have faded away with the day you left. Have you ever thought how lonely I felt in church even until now?
I don’t blame you, I don’t want to. I have matured and changed so much since the day you left. I am probably not the girl you know anymore. We are strangers now, as we know lesser of each other as the days fly back. But, you’ll always be in my memory.
Love,
Doreen
