Exercise: PEOPLE-WATCH

1. Walk into the canteen/library, etc. and watch people pass by.
2. Eventually, one will catch your attention
3. Write down as many details as possible through observation
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for a second character
5. Transcribe all these details into the ‘PEOPLE-WATCH” page that you will create on your blog.

6. OBSERVE 2 PEOPLE.

First Person: At a bus stop

Today at the bus stop, i spotted this Caucasian girl, dressed in her uniform, white blouse and a short red skirt, carrying a big backpack. I think she probably just ended school as there was an international school near by and it was already in the late afternoon. She had curly blonde hair, which was tied up in a pony. I could tell that she just ended school as her hair looked like its in a mess, or either she had a bad hair day.

She had red polished nails and a ring on her middle finger of her right hand. It does not seem like a couple ring to me. Maybe its just an accessory she got for herself. She wore grey nike dunks which looked a little wore out. Perhaps it was her school shoe that she wore since last year.

I noticed that she kept on looking at her phone. She seemed as if she was waiting for something, either for a call or a short message. Or perhaps, looking at the time off her phone as she was not wearing a watch.

Why was she at the bus stop? Maybe she was just making her way home after school or either meeting up with some friends at the malls.

Second person: In a public bus

He caught my attention as he kept on looking at his phone for the entire bus ride. This guy was dressed in a white shirt and blue long pants which was his school uniform as can be identified by his school logo and the badge that says ‘Prefect’ pinned on the left of his shirt. He was tall and skinny. He wore a pair of frameless specs which was a little orange on the side, a watch on his right hand and a little worn off dirty puma dunks. He carried a black grey bag. He had black hair which was short and had a clean cut hair style, making it seem as if he just had a hair cut the previous day.

He was probably taking a bus home as it was a late afternoon when i saw him on the bus. He had a really sad and disappointed look on his face. Maybe he was really disappointed with the exam paper he just did earlier in the day or maybe he is disappointed at himself for not performing well in his studies.
